| Strategically located at the main southern entrance into Williamstown is the former Rosenburg family dairy farm, known locally as Sheep Hill. This key 55-acre landmark is a familiar, stunningly beautiful sight identified by its dramatic open hillsides and appealing cluster of weathered farm buildings. Sheep Hill also played an important part in regional winter sports history when, from the 1930's to the 1950's, the hill was the ski center for Williams college and the town. | ||
| Protecting Sheep Hill had been a priority project of the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation since 1992, when then-owner Arthur Rosenburg requested help in preserving the historic and scenic landscape of his farm. When Arthur died in 1998, the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation continued working with his estate. In 2000, after seven years of effort, the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation was able to acquire the farm. The property is permanently protected and open to the public for recreation and environmental education, and is a center for promoting the region's rural heritage. | ||

Although the campaign for the acquisition and renovation of Sheep Hill has been completed with the generous help of our donors, the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation is still working to restore the structural integrity of the property for public use and enjoyment.
